YingJowPai,
You are correct that there is a big error in the turning of the foot.
Although the movie is quite old (back then I only learned from Lam Chun Fai for one year and a half), I had to adjust the stepping.
The underground was uneven, the grass was partly slippy, parlty stumbling. So instead of sliding the toes in / turning on the back of the foot (which would result in stumbling and falling or twisting my ankle right away) in this movie I quickly restep and logically that means the ball/front of the foot - as I had to lift my foot.
And yes, this also resulted in loss of power (see the butterfly hands where I slip away and the power cannot come from the stance) - the movie is only about 60 % correct.
One thing however, I must add. Hung Ga is not a static-power style as often is shown. There's a lot of power coming from twisting the wrist - and exactly that can not be seen from a movie.
So good noticing! But in this context, it's merely adapting to circumstances. You can try practising on different undergrounds yourself and then you will find out, the feet can not always slide/turn as your sifu teaches you in the gym.
Miro,
If you look at it as a wushu championships performance, it's very stratska indeed. I know, because before I started Hung Ga, I was a Wushu champion (You can ask PM, he will remember my pictures with very deep stances, etc.)
The concepts in Hung Ga are quite different; the fighting applications is more important than the good looking.
The stances are higher, fingers are bent, it's just technique by technique, same boring rythm all the time.
Well I won't go into all here now, you can visit any Hung Ga school in Praha to get that cofirmed.
The same applies the other way - if I look at your kung fu thru Hung Ga eyes your kung fu is very bad too.
Lastly, if you would really be that good, you would now there are a lot of different concepts and you cannot say wrong, just different.
You disappoint me here, and I feel you only talk on how good you are, but in real you never show yourself.
So now go to some place with grass and videotape yourself, so we can see you while you have to adapt too. Till that time you're just one of the many claiming to be the best, but as it comes to it ..... KURV.
(sportivily challenging you; no hard feelings - as my sifu thought me to always tell "it's different")

For the rest.
I still have the movie on internet, because it's already much better than many others (that claim big things, but are not that good at all)
And secondly, the mistakes prevent people from learning from the internet. The movie is only ment for reference, so new-comers can see what they will learn first. It's not an instructional movie and I wouldn't want others to learn from it (many people seem to do so) - so now I can see if somebody copied the change in the footwork. haaaaa
Lastly, please note, I 'm just a student of Lam Chun Fai. Still learning, not the best.
But at least I don't claim to be big and then say it's all secret and don't show.
